Originally scheduled to close this weekend after 44 years, the iconic LGBTQ+ club will remain open a little longer as prospective buyers enter the picture. Management confirmed that several parties have submitted offers, and the venue will continue operating until a sale is finalized.
The club’s current owner is retiring, prompting the announcement earlier this summer that CC Slaughters would shut its doors. That news sparked an outpouring of support from longtime patrons, community leaders and artists who have called the Old Town venue a cornerstone of Portland’s queer nightlife scene.
A Portland Nightlife Staple
Since opening in 1981, CC Slaughters has hosted generations of LGBTQ+ Portlanders with drag shows, themed dance nights and Pride celebrations. For many, it’s been more than a nightclub—it’s been a second home.
While the future of the space remains uncertain, regulars now have at least a bit more time to return, reminisce and toast to nearly five decades of dancefloor memories.
